HAYAT Russia, part of the global HAYAT company, has launched a new automated line for the production of toilet paper and paper towels at its plant in Kaluga Region. The volume of investments in the project amounted to 700 million rubles. The expansion of the enterprise allowed the company to increase the capacity of the conversion production by 30%, as well as create 40 additional jobs.

The second HAYAT Russia plant with a capacity of 70 thousand tons per year was opened in Kaluga region in December 2021, which allowed the company to become the largest manufacturer of paper and hygiene products in Russia. Since then, projects for the phased expansion of production have been repeatedly implemented at the enterprise. The basis for the current capacity increase was laid at the site of the XXVI St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), where a memorandum of intent was signed between HYATT Russia and the government of Kaluga Region. The launch of the new line took place in the first quarter of 2024. Taking into account this project, the total investment volume of HYATT Russia in Kaluga region reached 16.9 billion rubles, which makes the company one of the largest investors in the Kaluga SEZ and the region as a whole.

The Governor of Kaluga Region Vladislav Shapsha stressed: "The capacity expansion of the Kaluga KHAYAT plant is the implementation of our agreements reached at SPIEF 2023. The dynamics of the project development, a well-thought-out strategy, and the use of advanced technological and environmental solutions allowed the company to almost completely replace imported analogues in a relatively short period of time and become Russia's largest manufacturer of paper and hygiene products. We appreciate that companies such as HAYAT operate in our region, so we will continue to create all conditions for the plans for the plant development at the Borovskaya SEZ site to be consistently implemented."

The new production line allows the production of paper and hygiene products (toilet paper, paper towels) under three key brands of HYATT Russia: Papia, Familia and Focus. All products are made from 100% natural cellulose purchased from Russian suppliers. The use of modern equipment and innovative technologies, many of which were developed in HAYAT's own Research and Development Center in Turkey, ensures high quality and softness of all manufactured products.

In particular, the new line is equipped with Thermo PowerTech technology. This is the first system in the world that uses electromagnetic induction heating for embossing. This makes the paper 30% [1]softer, fluffier and more durable. In addition, the introduction of the Thermo Power Tech innovation reduces pulp consumption and energy consumption.

Metin Mete, General Director of HAYAT Russia, noted: "The launch of a new production line at a plant in Kaluga Region is an important element of the HYATT Russia investment program. This project strengthens the company's leading position in the categories of toilet paper and paper towels in Russia, but more importantly, now we can even more quickly and fully meet the needs of Russians in high-quality paper and hygiene products. Now our Kaluga enterprise produces significant volumes of products, but we are not going to stop there — our company sees great prospects for development in the Russian market."

The line fully complies with the principles of sustainable production. The company has implemented a set of measures aimed at the efficient use of natural resources, waste management and reducing environmental impact. In addition to introducing advanced developments in the field of environmental safety, the company also regularly conducts training events that increase the environmental awareness of employees and suppliers.
